And Action!
The much-anticipated Victoria Rowell-directed movie Blackjack Christmas was screened in Jamaica for the very first time Tuesday, November 1 at the AC Hotel, Kingston. The by-invitation-only event was attended by a few of the Hollywood stars in the movie, notably Kyrie McAlpin and Adam Lazarre-White, as well as beloved Jamaican thespians Fae Ellington and Oliver Samuels. Rowell, who was also on-site, shared her profound joy and gratitude for the gift of art. She also expressed that she felt vindicated. “I hired Jamaicans, paid in US and took a leap of faith,” she shared. Her leap of faith paid off and she was effusive in her praise of the cast and crew whom she found to be professional.
“Family, forgiveness, festivity and letting go” are the words used by Rowell in describing the movie that’s perfect for the Christmas holidays.
Blackjack Christmas will air on BET+ on Thursday, December 15.
If you happen to be in Negril this weekend and attending The Skylark Film Festival there will be an opportunity to watch the movie Blackjack Christmas and hear from writer/director Victoria Rowell as well as watch Sheldon Shepherd’s movie Yardie.
