Almost four months after his unplaced effort as the favourite in a six-furlong (1,200m) event, Nomoredeals returns as the horse to beat in a native-bred three-year-old and up (non-winners of two/imported three-year-old and upward) (maiden) Restricted Allowance 11 contest at Caymanas Park today.

Nomoredeals, bred by Soul Warrior out of the Taqarub mare Thornhill Miss, was expected to blow away the non-winners of two groups on July 9, but finished last by 16 ½ lengths in the 10-horse field, which was won by Buzz City Light.

However, prior to that run, the Gresford Smith trainee was just beaten by a short head by Awesome Rich over the five-straight (1,000m) course on June 25. With little to fear from these, Nomoredeals is expected to return on a winning note.

Nomoredeals will run without the tongue-tie and instead will be fitted with the blinkers for his assignment today. Paul Francis will ride.

The five-furlong round contest is the ninth and final event on the card, with a post time of 4:50 pm. First race is at noon.

She’s Fantastic, trained by Dennis Thwaites, looks like the obvious threat to Nomoredeals here. The three-year-old dark bay filly is also coming off a break, returning to competitive racing after 106 days of rest. She’s Fantastic has worked well coming into this race, clocking 48.2 seconds for four furlongs (800m) on October 30. If she can get a level break, She’s Fantastic could go all the way.

Pip and Brompton Alex are capable enough to play prominent roles in this race.

Since his maiden win on April 23, 2022, Pip has failed to run a competitive race in his next six starts at this level. However, he has trained well for the race, and given his running style, Pip could run his best race yet for a while.

Brompton Alex was just beaten by a short head by Monsieur Blue out of the straight on October 29. Though not as effective on the round course, Brompton Alex is still comfortable against these and could challenge for top honours.
