Clarendon mason to face firearm charges
CLARENDON, Jamaica— A mason of Havana Heights in Clarendon was arrested and charged for shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, following an incident on Denbigh Drive in the parish on November 30, 2021.
Charged is 35-year-old Leighton Whyte, otherwise called ‘Bang’.
Reports are that about 7:35 am, the complainant was walking with his cattle along the main road, when he was pounced upon by an armed man who fired several shots at him. The complainant however escaped unhurt and reported the incident to the police.
Whyte was reportedly implicated as a suspect in the investigation that followed, and on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, he was arrested in St Elizabeth during a police operation. He was charged on November 7, after he was pointed out on an identification parade.
