Following Bootylicious’s exciting debut win on Saturday, November 5, 2022, assistant trainer Peter John Parsard said that based on how she prepared he didn’t expect anyone to come within 10 lengths of the bay filly.

Bred by Key to Power out of Keep The Faith, Bootylicious treated his rivals with disdain winning by 17 ½ lengths in the $1.01-million native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight contest over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m). Bootylicious won in a time of 1:06.2.

“In my mind, she should be one of if not the most talented two-year-olds out so far. That was the type of performance I was expecting, and that’s exactly what she gave me, but she’s right up there with the top ones,” Parsard said.

“First of all, we can’t take anything for granted as we have had horses that we thought were progressive, like her, that came and didn’t win first time out, and so to be able to get the job done, that was excellent,” Parsard added.

After a couple of strides, Bootylicious booted to the lead heading towards the half-mile turn. Going into the turn, Bootylicious held the advantage over Whizz Kidd (Robert Halldeen) and She’s Myhedgefund (Dane Dawkins).

Turning for home, Bootylicious accelerated and powered home to win with minimum fuss. She’s Myhedgefund finished second and Whizz Kidd third.

“We were hoping that she wouldn’t tear away from the field, and she did a great job as she was able to relax and she went on to win easily.” She is super talented, and we were happy with the performance.

“We will check her out tomorrow and decide from there. She is a baby, and we are not forcing her for anything, but she is showing us that she has the talent to be a part of the serious two-year-old races.

“She didn’t face very talented horses relative to what she was going to have to face, such as Mamma Mia, who is a very good horse. Bootylicious has to take her time, and once she gets the opportunity, she the hope is that she is good enough to handle matters,” Parsard told said.
