ST JAMES, Jamaica – Defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical and St James High are tied for the lead in the Under-19 section of the ISSA Western Conference Boys Basketball competition after wins on Wednesday.

Herbert Morrison beat Holland High School 79-25 and St James High rebounded from their first loss of the season to hammer Cornwall College 112-35 as both secured their place in the semifinals, both winners in 11 points from six games.

Holland High are in third place on nine points, one more than York Castle, who are on eight points and Cornwall College on six points in fifth place.

Herbert Morrison Technical was led by a game-high 22 points from Hubert Rodney, while D’Aire Patterson scored 13, Renaldo Lewin scored 12 points and Shemar Martin scored 10 points and had nine steals.

Shamar Kean scored 11 points and had eight steals for Holland High, while Giovanni Josephs scored eight points.

Reiki Brown had a double-double for St James High in their massive win, scoring 28 points and having 10 steals as well as seven assists. Jodel Williams scored 25 points and seven steals, Josan Williams scored 13 points and had eight rebounds and steals, Keith Smith scored 12 points with seven rebounds and steals, and T’Sean Crossman had 20 rebounds along with eight points.

Kelvin Green was the only Cornwall College player to score in double digits with 13 points.

In an Under-16 game, Herbert Morrison won their second game, beating leaders Holland High 42-25, also on Wednesday.

Kamu Dennis recorded a double-double 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Joshua Ferguson scored 13 points to lead Herbert Morrison, who outscored Holland High 37-20 over the last three quarters after the teams were tied 5-5 after the first quarter.

Zaheer Lynch scored five points for Holland while Evair Hines scored four points and had 14 rebounds and Horraine Webster also had 11 rebounds and seven steals.
