Vows: Our Journey To Love

Love can strike anywhere, at anytime. Just ask BRIJ International Limited Sales Coordinator Yasema White and Tyre Warehouse technician/superviosr Michael White, who are still basking in their nuptials which were celebrated on Saturday, September 17, at the Kendal Conference Centre, Manchester.

Yasema met her Prince Charming at Tyre Warehouse, Mandeville on September 14, 2019. She was there to get her tyres balanced. After making the payment the sales rep informed her that the tall handsome guy outside with the braces, named Michael, would assist her.

“I went outside with the receipt asking ‘Michael! Michael! Who is Michael?’ When he replied, ‘A me, man’,” Yasema told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “He then took the receipt and proceeded to work on my car. He was taking so long that one of his co-workers was forced to ask jokingly, ‘How you a work pan dat deh lady car suh long?'”

Michael’s ruse had been uncovered. It didn’t end there, however! He asked to use Yasema’s phone to ring his (saved his name as the Tireman) and naturally had hers. He wasted little time in calling her. The news he shared, however, was that he’d be going on two weeks’ vacation. Eschew all thoughts of the two burning up the phone lines. “I didn’t hear from him until two days before he came back,” she related to TSV. “He called saying that he wanted to see me and I told him I shouldn’t even be taking his call because he didn’t remember me.” She ignored his calls and didn’t go to see him.

She returned nonetheless to Tyre Warehouse ostensibly to get more work done on her car. No surprise as to who she encountered! Let’s just say that they started dating and would soon be planning a wedding after the early new year proposal at Margaritaville Ocho Rios.

Here comes the bride…

On Saturday, September 17, friends and family filled the pews of the auditorium at the Kendal Conference Centre, Manchester, which was beautifully enhanced in shades of wine red and gold by event decorator Margaret Meikle.

Percival Spencer walked his daughter up the aisle to the strains of On My Way (Marry Me) by Jennifer Lopez. Yasema wore a white satin mermaid beading, one-shoulder bridal gown — a gift from her sister — while clutching a bouquet of white and wine red roses. At the altar, eagerly awaiting his bride, stood Michael, dressed in a white three-piece slim-fit suit with wine red lapel.

The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Margaret Barrieffe and included a sand ceremony.

The reception followed inside the conference room where there were non-stop moments of fun from the arrival of the bridal party to Davido’s If and thereafter the newly-weds dancing their way into the room to vigorous applause to Patoranking’s My Woman My Everything featuring Wande Coal.

The couple’s first dance as newly-weds was to Please Forgive Me by Bryan Adams.

Post-formalities, guests enjoyed dinner and witnessed the cutting of the three-tiered wedding cake by Dwight Wright. Master of ceremonies Damien Williams kept the celebration going with heartfelt toasts and well wishes from friends and family. DJ Biggs set the mood to an unforgettable evening, bringing the affair to a perfect end with his musical selections.

A honeymoon will follow at a later date.
