Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Lebanese singer land historic World Cup anthem
International rap superstar, Nicki Minaj has teamed up with Spanish artiste Maluma and Lebanese singer Myriam Fares for what has been confirmed as the official World Cup Anthem.
FIFA confirmed that the song would be released on Friday via Universal Arabic Music/Universal Music Group/ Republic Records.
According to an article from Billboard Music, the track titled “Tukoh Taka” will make history as the first FIFA World Cup song to feature English, Spanish and Arabic lyrics.
“This cross-continental collaboration features a high-energy synergy between Minaj, Maluma and Fares as they rap and sing about uniting fans worldwide and celebrating together,” the article said about the track.
A music video for the song was also released on Friday.
According to FIFA, for the first time ever, the football tournament’s soundtrack will feature a multi-song collection, with international artistes “showcasing diverse musical genres that span the world, setting the tone for a truly global celebration.”
The 2022 FIFA World Cup gets underway on Sunday, November 20 with host nation Qatar facing Ecuador in the opening match. A total of 32 teams representing different countries will participate in the championship.
