TEAM members from across Sagicor Group Jamaica celebrating five to 35 years were honoured during the financial conglomerate’s annual long service awards on December 7 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.

The 311 team members awarded included team members from all the group’s subsidiary, including Advantage General Insurance Company (AGIC).

The awardees were lauded by president and CEO of the group Christopher Zacca during his remarks for dedicating their time, skills, talent, and effort to building Sagicor’s legacy.

“Your longevity in service to the group is highly commendable and shows that you believe in the brand, its vision, and what it stands for. Without you we would not have been able to weather the many storms we have faced, especially over the past few years. Through it all you have stuck with us,” said Zacca.

He also encouraged newer team members to seek mentorship and counsel from long serving awardees.

“Learn and soak up all the knowledge you can, not just about the job, but about life’s journey. I am positive the knowledge transfer will be tremendous,” he continued.

Karl Williams, executive vice-president of shared services, Sagicor Group Jamaica, also applauded Sagicor’s long service awardees.

“I am very proud to be a part of a group filled with dedicated team members. You have raised your families here and have been the heart of our operations. You have helped to shape Sagicor into the stellar company it is today, believing in our people, our purpose, and our passion. Know that Sagicor is strong because of the skill and effort you put into your job. Continue to peak in everything that you do,” Williams said.

One of the six recipients of the long service award for 35 years of service, assistant manager, branch operations, Sagicor Bank, May Pen, Yvette Morris expressed her appreciation for being recognised by the group.

“I feel valued to be recognised by my organisation. People, service, and passion are what drives me. The opportunity to positively impact the lives of internal and external stakeholders by not only executing my core functions but also being able to give back through the various initiatives supported by the organisation has greatly contributed to me being a long service team member,” shared Morris.

Themed ‘The Peak Experience’, this year’s award service was part of Sagicor’s STARS Week. The acronym STARS, which stands for Showcasing Talent and Recognising Staff, began in 1984 as a means to promote the holistic development of the company’s team members through a series of creative, motivational, and benevolent activities that heighten team spirit among staff.
