Singer Bitty McLean keeps them talking

BRITISH reggae singer Bitty McLean’s cover of Bob Andy’s Let Them Talk is number one on the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart.

Let Them Talk is one of the songs from the Bob Andy tribute album We Remember Bob Andy, slated to be released next month by VP Records.

McLean is best known for charting three top-10 entries on the British pop charts — a cover of The Shirelles’s Dedicated to the One I Love, Here I Stand, and It Keeps Rainin (Tears from My Eyes).

He scored other hits on the chart with What Goes Around, Over the River, Nothing Can Change This Love, and Pass It On. Locally, he has got airplay with his cover of David Ruffin’s Walk Away From Love, and The Real Thing (produced by Sly and Robbie).

The project also features Tarrus Riley, Beres Hammond, Romain Virgo, Richie Spice, and Nadine Sutherland covering some of Andy’s classic songs. It was produced by Dean Fraser.

Another track from the tribute album is Really Together by Lukie D and Alaine. It is also charting on regional charts.

Still on the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart, I Believe in You by Kevin Hyll moves from 15 to 11, while JC Lodge Love Uprising inches up from 16 to 13.

Worl-A-Girl’s La La drives from 24 to 18.

This week’s new entries are One Day I’ll Fly Away by George Nooks (number 28), Young Gyal Business (remix) by Chaka Demus and Pliers, and Renner (number 29), and Roll by Young Garvey (number 30).

On the South Florida Reggae chart, Grown Woman by Hopeton Lindo and Peter G takes over the number one spot.

Kashief Lindo’s Coldest Days of My Life rises from 11 to seven, while I Need Your Love by Beres Hammond steps up from 14 to nine.

New entries are I Surrender All by George Nooks (number 21), Sometimes When We Touch by King Banton (number 22), Officially by Lenn Hammond and Hugh Brown (number 24), and New Babylon by Wayne Armond (number 25).

On the streaming and sales-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers logs 156 non-consecutive weeks at number one.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is firm at number two, while Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul re-enters at number three.

Stick Figure’s Wisdom slides down to four, Greatest Hits by UB40 is five, and Dutty Rock by Sean Paul is six.

World on Fire and Set in Stone by Stick Figure are seven and eight, respectively, while Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution tumbles from five to nine.

Koffee’s Gifted remains at 10.
