Sean Paul mines gold in France with ‘Dynamite’
‘Dynamite’, a 2021 song by Sean Paul which features Australian singer Sia, was certified gold in France on January 5.
The certification issued by the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing to commemorate sales and streaming equivalent of 100,000 units.
‘Dynamite’ is a co-production between Jigzagula, Greg Kurstin and Banx and Ranx. It was released in October 2021 and is featured on Sean Paul’s eighth studio album Scorcha, which is nominated in the Best Reggae Album category of the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Scorcha also features the collaborations ‘How We Do It’ with Pia Mia, ‘Only Fanz’ with Ty Dolla $ign, ‘Bouncing’ with Jada Kingdom, ‘No Fear’ with Nicky Jam and Damian Marley and ‘Light My Fire’ with Shenseea and Gwen Stefani.
This is not the first time that Sean has collaborated with Sia. In 2016, he was featured on the remix of her hit ‘Cheap Thrills’, which became a global hit and also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That song has to date been certified for sales exceeding 11 million copies globally.
Scorcha peaked at number six on the US Billboard Reggae Albums chart with first week sales of 1,700 in album equivalent units.
‘Dynamite’ peaked at number 92 on the pop chart in Switzerland. It was released in France via Virgin Records France/Universal Music France.
