Vows: The Bonds Of Love

There’s nothing quite like a happy ending! Just ask Candlebyshan CEO Shanique Graham and Petrojam Process Technician Jahmoy Bruce whose path to the altar commenced in April 2015 and culminated seven years later, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Pollyanna Caterers.

Jahmoy’s version:

“We got ‘tagged’ in April 2015,” he shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “We went out on a couple of friendly dates as Shanique wasn’t interested in a relationship while I, on the other hand, was single and ready to mingle.

“For our first date we went to the movies where she insisted that she was going to cover the tickets or food cost. This really stood out for me as no one had ever made such an offer, so I was even more intrigued.

“I remember one afternoon we went on a picnic date where we spoke in depth about our families and we both realised that we had more in common than we thought — not to mention our plans for the future. In November of the same year, we made things official and I introduced her to my family and everyone was very receptive of her.

“In August 2020, the Lord blessed us with our daughter, Paige-Amoy, and I realised even more that tomorrow is promised to no one and I do not want to spend the minutes, days or years I have left with anyone but Shanique and Paige-Amoy, so I decided to pop the question.

“On September 4, 2022, I asked her to be my wife and she said, Yes!

HERE COMES THE BRIDE

Major’s Why I Love You heralded the arrival of the bridal party whilst Leela James’ Fall for You announced the bride’s arrival. Shanique made her entrance in a white V-neck lace beaded sequinned tulle ball gown while clutching a bouquet of roses and baby’s breath. She was escorted up the aisle by her stepfather, Beavon Brown.

The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Richard Bowes.

THE RECEPTION…

…was held at the same venue and was described as an emotional one by the bride, who mentioned that this was the first wedding since her great-grandmother on the maternal side of her family.

Formalities were handled by Natalee Bailey 9(@Natz.Bailey) who enthusiastically introduced the bridal party as they made their entry to Beyoncé’s Cuff It followed by the newly-weds to Wayne Marshall’s Good Ole Wife.

A prayer by the bride’s adopted mom, Isoline Cunningham, was followed by dinner catered by the team at Pollyanna Caterers and the two-tiered fruit cake and the blessing of the two-tiered fruit cake by Donna Coleman.

The evening proceeded with toasts to the bride from her sister, Danique Brown, and to the groom from his best friend, Kyle Mason, followed by the cutting of the cake. The couple then opened the dance floor to Beautiful As You by All-4-One before the groom’s reply, thanking everyone for their support. Guests were then asked to join them on the dance floor.

A honeymoon will follow at a later date.
