ST JAMES, Jamaica- At least three people were killed in separate gun attacks across St James on Valentine’s Day.

Among those dead is 47-year-old Aretha Clarke, a craft vendor of a Hendon, Norwood address in the parish. According to an OBSERVER ONLINE police source, Clarke’s body was discovered at approximately 5:45 pm along Phoenix Drive in Westgate Hills on Tuesday.

It is reported that the police were alerted after residents of the upscale community saw a blue Toyota Crown motor car parked along a section of the roadway with the body of a woman inside.

The deceased woman was found inside the car on the front passenger seat with a towel wrapped around her body and what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head.

In the second incident, a man was killed in the vicinity of Harmony Beach Park minutes later at about 6:15 pm. The dead man has been identified as Albert Reid of a Roehampton address in the parish.

Police say Reid was travelling in his motor car when he was ambushed by armed men who opened fire at him. He was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Similarly, in the Retirement community, a man was found lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to his upper body at about 8:45 pm. His identity has not yet been ascertained.

An OBSERVER ONLINE source said the police were called after residents reportedly heard “loud explosions sounding like gunshots being fired”. The man is said to be of a dark complexion, medium build. He was also said to have a dreadlocks hairstyle. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
