Icons of Annotto Bay, a local charity with extended reach to the United States, donated needy supplies to two recipient groups last Tuesday in the St Mary seacoast town.

The nonprofit charity handed over articles to St Theresa’s Basic School, run by the Catholic church, at its ‘Top Bay’ location, much to the glee and happiness of the pupils and teachers of the institution.

Icons President Wyatt “Spur” Williams a retired policeman who lives in the United States but maintains a physical link with Jamaica; and his wife, Odette, a New York-based teacher of Jamaican background who is secretary of the charity, made the presentations.

A short distance away, the charity also handed out items, which included sanitary napkins, walkers, a wheelchair, computer bags, and other things to be distributed by community volunteer Angella “Miss Ann” Williamson, who has been, over 30 years, looking out for the needs of the less fortunate in the busy town.

Williamson cooks and serves meals to hundreds of needy people each week, through the St Vincent de Paul Society. She also prepares meals, daily, for St Theresa’s Basic School pupils and staff.
