She’s My Destiny the obvious choice

She’s My Destiny the obvious choice

The three-year-old and upwards Graded Stakes/Open Allowance call for the $1.5-million Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) 6th Anniversary Trophy takes centre stage at Caymanas Park tomorrow, March 4, 2023.

A field of eight runners, including the talented and morning-line favourite She’s My Destiny, will travel a distance of 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).

Below is the analysis of each runner.

1. SHE’S MY DESTINY: (5 ch m by Bern Identity – Woman Is Boss) – Obviously, this is the horse to beat. She’s My Destiny finished a creditable second by 2 ½ lengths behind Mahogany in the 6 ½-furlong (1,300m) Eileen Cliggott Memorial Cup on February 4. Prior to that, the speedy mare was most impressive when winning the Christopher Armond Sprint on December 26, 2023 by 4 ¼ lengths in a zippy 1:04.4. Based on that run alone, it should be a walk in the park for She’s My Destiny. She is expected to go to the front and do all the running, and whoever catches her will surely win, but that is unlikely.

2. DUKE: (7 gh by Casual Trick – Lady MacBeth) – Very consistent runner who has raced four times this season already, finishing second twice and third twice. Duke‘s last run came in the Reggae Trophy over the 5-straight (1,000m) course on February 18, when he finished a close third behind winner Laban and Lure of Lucy. With Laban present here along with She’s My Destiny, Duke‘s chances of winning are very slim, but expect a good run nonetheless.

3. LABAN: (6 b h by Sensational Slam – For Trixie) – Comes into this race on the back end of two consecutive victories. Laban was impressive in winning the Reggae Trophy on February 18, but a win here is not on the cards. Should make his presence felt throughout the race for a place on the board.

4. KING ARTHUR: (6 b g by Natural Selection – Geisha’s Art) – After a string of disappointing efforts, came through in a big way on February 25 when finishing second by 2 ¼ lengths behind Calculus in the Miracle Man Cup over 9 ½ furlongs (1,900m). King Arthur returns for this quick sprint, which he should find too short at this stage in his career. He is going to be left behind.

5. JONHCROWJEFF: (5 b g by Natural Selection – Sweetyourock) – Has no form to recommend.

6. MINIATURE MAN: (5 ch g by Northern Giant – Runaway Gal) – Came home in fifth place by 18 lengths behind Calculus in the Miracle Man Cup at the races last week. Little or no improvement is expected from Miniature Man.

I Am Fred

7. I AM FRED (USA): (5 b g by Golden Lad – Happy Hailey) – Makes his seasonal debut after finishing down the track in the Mouttet Mile last December. I Am Fred is going to need a run or two to get back his fitness, and so he should be safely bypassed.

8. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (5 ch h by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Should not trouble the principals.
