Man charged in brazen Beryllium armed robbery in Portmore
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A man has been charged amid ongoing investigations into the brazen armed robbery of a Beryllium Limited courier van in Portmore, St Catherine in March.
He is 24-year-old Shemar Yee of Fairview Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
On Sunday, March 19, gunmen armed with high-powered weapons attacked a Beryllium security team servicing the Scotiabank automated teller machines (ATMS) at Braeton Parkway.
The assailants opened fire on the security personnel, who returned gunfire and sustained injuries in the process. The culprits fled the scene reportedly with more than $20 million.

According to police reports, Yee now faces a total of 12 charges for the incident. They are:
· Being a participant in a criminal organisation
· Facilitating the commission of an applicable offence by a criminal organisation
· Using conveyance to traffic firearms
· Making use of a firearm to commit a felony (3 counts)
· Being in possession of prohibited weapons
· Making use of a firearm to commit a first schedule offence
· Possession of a firearm with intent to cause damage (2 counts)
· Unauthorised possession of ammunition
· Robbery with aggravation
· Principal in the first degree (robbery with aggravation)
· Shooting with intent
· Wounding with intent (4 counts)
