In 1974, rhythm and blues singer Shirley Brown scored big with her ode to side chicks, titled Woman to Woman. The song raced to number one on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart clocking two weeks in the top spot.

Woman to Woman was certified platinum and, the following year, Barbara Mason released her side chick themed song From His Woman to You, which was a Top 5 hit on the Hot Soul Singles chart.

Dancehall artiste Sassi Chin recently saluted side chicks on her single Sneaky Link which features dancehall deejay Takeova.

Sneaky Link was produced by The Polo Store Entertainment and, according to Hanover-based Sassi Chin, the song is about a forbidden love situation.

“Sneaky Link is about a love situation which is very common nowadays so I am not surprised by the buzz around the song. Side girls need love too,” she reasoned.

When quizzed about whether she was concerned about being labeled as a homewrecker because of what the song represents, the artiste outlined that the song is simply a fictional story and that it was created for entertainment purposes only.

“Music is a fun way of describing real life situations and, let’s face it, many people cheat and even fall deeply in love with whom they cheat with, so I am not promoting cheating, I am simply entertaining my fans while sharing a nontraditional love story,” said Sassi Chin.

Sassi Chin, whose real name is Shanota Allen, has seen her career moving into the right direction since signing with US-based The Polo Store Entertainment.

“The business of music is very challenging especially for an up-and-coming female artiste without a support system. So, since my management team came on board, things are much easier because I can now focus on being the artiste while my team handles the business aspect,” said Sassi Chin.
