TRELAWNY, Jamaica— Deafening cheers exploded across the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium Wednesday afternoon as participants at the Inter-American Division (IAD) of Seventh-day Adventists (SDA) fifth Pathfinder Camporee greeted legendary sprinter Usain Bolt.

Bolt went on to give a motivational speech to the youngsters at the venue.

The parents of the native Trelawny icon are members of the Sherwood Content Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Hundreds of people from the 24 SDA unions drawn from over 52 countries are in attendance at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium for the first staging of the five-day Pathfinder Camporee in an English-speaking country.

Bolt, who turned 36-years-old last year, is reputed to be the greatest sprinter of all time. He holds world records in the 100 and 200 metre events as well as the 4x100m relay.

He has eight Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championships gold medals.

He was presented with the IAD outstanding presidential golden award medal.
