SINCE he emerged on the music scene in the mid 2000s, singer Tarrus Riley has chalked up a multitude of hits such as She’s Royal, Human Nature, Stay with You, Lion Paw, My Day, and Contagious.

His latest single Desperate Lover has taken over the number one spot on the South Florida Reggae chart. It is a cover of the Bob Andy original, which was first released in 1969.

Desperate Lover is featured on the various artistes tribute album We Remember Bob Andy, which was released February 10 via VP Records.

Among the other songs featured are Really Together by Alaine and Lukie D, I’ve Got to Go Back Home by Beres Hammond, Let Them Say by Bitty McLean, Fire Burning by Romain Virgo, and Too Experienced by Sanchez.

Still on the South Florida Reggae chart, I’m Not that Guy by Ed Robinson steps up from 16 to 13, while Media Dolly by Buju Banton cruises from 23 to 19.

Over to the New York Reggae chart, Young Gyal Business (remix) by Chaka Demus and Pliers with Renner clocks another week in the number one spot.

Roll by Julian Marley improves from 11 to eight, while Nubian Woman (number 28) by Sister Carol and Hold Me Thrill Me (number 30) by Audley Rollen are this week’s new entries.

Now onto the sales and streaming driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers continues its historic run clocking 169 non-consecutive weeks in the number one spot.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is number two, while Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul is steady at three.

Greatest Hits by UB40 steps up to four, while Stick Figure Wisdom, World on Fire and Set in Stone are at numbers five, six and seven, respectively.

Great is He by Popcaan re-enters at number eight. The set peaked at number three and spends its 9th non-consecutive week on the tally.

Koffee’s Grammy nominated Gifted also returns to the chart, at number nine and Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, another familiar face, is at 10 with Welcome to Jamrock.
