Blue Vinyl, Perfect Brew to battle for supremacy in World Vet Day Trophy feature
The $1.14-million three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance appeal for the Jamaica Veterinary Board World Vet Day Trophy, the main attraction on tomorrow’s 10-race card, is likely to draw a field of 10 runners.
Below is an analysis of the runners as they compete over one mile (1,600m).
1. BLUE VINYL: (4 ch c by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Returns from a four-month break to beat rivals in the Temperence Oaks Trophy over 6½ furlongs (1,300m) on April 15. Then Blue Vinyl won easily by 3 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:20.2. Blue Vinyl is more suited to going one mile, and based on his seasonal debut run, he could make it a quick double. Returning in just 14 days suggests that Blue Vinyl is in good nick.
2. PERFECT BREW: (4 b g by Bern Identity – Moonlight) – Has had two outings this season so far without much success. Perfect Brew last raced on April 8 in the Saint Cecelia Cup, finishing 11 lengths in fifth position behind I Am Fred and Runaway Algo over 6½ furlongs. Perfect Brew takes a drop in grade to compete here, and given his class and talent, he can be successful here.
3. MINIATURE MAN: (5 ch g by Northern Giant – Runaway Gal) – Capable runner on his day, but Miniature Man has no form to recommend here.
4. CRIMSON: (7 b g by Nuclear Wayne – Sarah Barracuda) – Seasoned campaigner who is rounding into good form at the right time. On April 1, Crimson finished four lengths behind Money Monster in the King’s Plate over 7 furlongs (1,400m). Crimson is expected to put in another good showing here. Note: Visor off.
5. GAMBLER: (6 b m by Freedom for Jante – Kennisha) – Based on current form, Gambler cannot be recommended for a winning run.
6. D HEAD CORNERSTONE: (4 b c by Bern Identity – Soul Of The Heart) – Has yet to show anything since coming at the level. D Head Cornerstone is expected to be left behind here once again.
7. I REALISE: (4 b g by Northern Giant – Regina Royale) – Returns to competitive racing from 119-day break. I Realise comes into this race on the back-end of two consecutive victories but will find repeating a very tall order.
8. HELICOPTER: (6 b f by Storm Craft – Face Tracker) – Has been struggling in recent time to find form and that should be the case here as well.
9. OUTBIDDER: (4 b f by Savoy Stomp – Rumble) – Nicely bred runner who has been holding her own at this level. While Outbidder is not expected to win, she should make her presence felt.
10. BIG BIG DADDY: (6 dkb h by Natural Selection – Just A Flutter) – Has been consistent in his races. Big Big Daddy finished third behind Blue Vinyl and Brinks in the recent Temperence Oaks trophy. With Blue Vinyl present here, the chances of Big Big Daddy winning are very slim.
11. PRINCE MARSHALL: (5 ch g by War Marshall – Islamorada) – Returns here after 119-day break. Prince Marshall is going to need the run.
12. MARQUESAS: (8 b h by Coded Warning – Islamrada) – Is not expected to trouble the main principals here.
13. OMRON: (5 b m by Storm Craft – Impetus) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.
