Come Sunday, April 30, Bath-Sheba McMahon will be rocking the Spring Into Fashion runway in the Rocksteady Ballroom at the AC Hotel Kingston alongside several other top Jamaican celebrity models, a few surprise personality guest models as well as overseas-based designers who will showcase an array of couture talent assembled for the event.

Hosts Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica will mount the 10th annual fund-raising event under the patronage of honorary president and Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica Emina Tudakovic.

At first basketball was McMahon’s main interest, having excelled at the US collegiate level before going on to play professionally in Europe. However, her mom Christine Reynolds encouraged her to swap the courts for the fashion runway and today she is an international fashion supermodel, who made her runway début at the renowned New York Fashion Week.

Shortly thereafter, she took her talents to Los Angeles, California where she has been published in over 17 magazines, grabbing cover spots for Off Town & Gmaro and working with well-known brands such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Nike.

Along the way she worked with a raft of celebrity designers and also starred in music videos with such artistes as P Diddy, J Cole, Doja Cat, Wiz Khalifa, and many more. Her acting credits include posing as stand-in for Candace Parker and background roles on the Netflix show, Winning Time, which documents the great Los Angeles Lakers basketball teams of the 80s.

Born in New York City, McMahaon has Jamaican connections as she is the granddaughter of iconic Jamaican artist and cultural figure, Mallica “Kapo” Reynolds.

Sharing her feelings about her trip to Jamaica, she said:

“It will be my first time modelling in Jamaica and I am really excited to participate in the fashion extravaganza. I am also honoured to be helping to raise awareness and funds to uplift children and young mothers and to get the opportunity to visit the young ladies at the centre. I am looking forward to see my mom’s artwork being highlighted and greeting the extended Kapo family keeping his legacy alive.”

McMahon was referring to a piece of art entitled Maternal Bond, gifted to the Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica by her mom, and which has been available for viewing at the AC Hotel from April 24 until the day of the event on April 30.

“We are ecstatic that we are able to bring back Spring Into Fashion for the patrons who have been clamouring for its return, but also to enable us to continue our mission of supporting the underserved in our society,” said Kathryn Villeneuve, president of Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica.
