Police called in to probe alleged sexual assault of schoolgirl in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police have been called in to investigate an alleged case of sexual assault of a schoolgirl by a group of boys at a high school in Manchester.
A senior official at the school confirmed that a report was made to the police following the alleged incident on Friday.
It is alleged that sometime Friday, six boys sexually assaulted the grade nine student on the school compound.
“We are currently doing some investigations into the matter… From all indications I know that a report of such was made and the matter is currently being investigated,” the senior official said, while adding that a report has been made to the police.
Statistics from the police show that up to April 30 there were four reported cases of rape in Manchester compared to eight for the corresponding period last year.
