After defeating their opponents twice this season, Cavalier Sports Club (SC) Captain Rena Gordon believes the team will have an easy time when they face Vere United Football Club (FC) in the first of two semi-final matches in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) today.

The game is scheduled at 3:30 pm at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence. The other scheduled game at the site between Frasziers Whip and Olympic Gardens has been postponed as many of their players are on national service with the Under-20 Reggae Girlz in the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, Cavalier SC trounced Vere United 7-0 and 2-0 in the group rounds, and Gordon expects another easy win for her club.

“We are confident that we will win here, but nothing is certain, so we must come out and play the game. We have to come out, play the game plan, execute well, and go home with the win,” Gordon, 23, told the Jamaica Observer.

Cavalier SC enter this battle after a 1-2 loss to Frasziers Whip in the knockout competition, but Gordon says her team is in a strong state of mind and ready to produce.

“Despite the loss, I believe the ladies performed admirably. They came out, and everyone performed admirably. We’re in good spirits and ready to start. Training has been going well, and the players have been doing well, as all we have to do now is go out there and play our game,” said the former Under-20 and senior Reggae Girlz star.
