Tarrus Riley set for charity concert

Reggae singer Tarrus Riley is pulling out all the stops for a memorable set at the Issa Trust Foundation For the Children Charity Concert slated for Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on Saturday.

“I feel excited to be a part of the show. I love to perform, so any time I get to present my music it feels nice. I really feel excited and I’m looking forward to it,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Proceeds from the concert are earmarked for the construction of the Mary Issa Health Centre, a paediatric and adolescent care facility, near Richmond, St Ann.

It will be headlined by Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bolton.

Ky-Mani Marley and children from the Bob Marley Primary and Junior High School are also slated to perform

Tarrus Riley further said that he hopes patrons will leave feeling satisfied after Saturday’s show.

“I hope to bring good vibes and good energy, and I’m happy to be a part of it because I hear it’s for a good cause in helping to build a health centre. We want to leave just feeling good vibes [and] bless the environment with positive vibration,” he said.

The son of rocksteady and reggae singer Jimmy Riley, Tarrus rose to prominence in 2006 with his smash hit She’s Royal.

Over the years the singer has consistently produced hits such as Good Girl Gone Bad — a duet with Konshens — Parables, and Never Leave I.

Meanwhile, marketing executive for the concert, Sean “Contractor” Edwards says he has been doing extensive groundwork to ensure that the event will be sold out.

“I covered significant ground with flyers and posters for the concert and interacted personally with possible patrons. I invited them to come to the concert and explained to them that it was for a worthy cause…We covered from Port Maria, St Mary to Montego Bay as well as Kingston and St Andrew,” he told the Observer.
