KINGSTON, Jamaica — Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) has condemned the actions of the individual(s) who reportedly broke into the Cavaliers SC dressing room during Friday night’s Lynk Cup Final at Sabina Park.

In a news release on Saturday, the PFJL said it is taking the matter seriously and will be launching formal investigations into the matter.

“Formal investigations by the relevant professional bodies have begun to dissect this ill-fated security breach,” the release read.

It added that “PFJL is assuring its stakeholders that the safety of the players, officials and patrons is paramount in the execution of all planned sporting events.”

PFJL said it has already begun steps to assure “improved operational protocols and corrective security measures” in an effort to “negate any recurrence for all upcoming match days in the 2022/23 season.”

In the meantime, the organisation commended players and the management team of Cavaliers SC for continuing the game under what it described as unfortunate circumstances.

Cavaliers who was trailing Portmore United 2-1 at halftime went on to lose the final 2-1.
