Wolmer’s beat XLCR to retain schoolboy T20 crown
Wolmer’s Boys’ defended their Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Twenty20 (T20) cricket title after defeating Excelsior High by six wickets in Saturday’s final at Sabina Park.
Batting first after winning the toss, Excelsior made 149-6 as captain Michael Clarke hit an unbeaten 79.
But Wolmer’s, who defeated St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) to claim the schoolboy T20 crown last season, reached 150-4 with two overs and a ball to spare to retain the title.
Jordan Johnson (37) and Mathew Aljoe (five) were the not out batsmen for Wolmer’s.
Scores: Excelsior High 149-6 (20 overs); Wolmer’s Boys’ 150-4 (17.5 overs)
In the earlier third-place play-off match at the same venue, Manchester High crushed long-time rivals STETHS by eight wickets.
Scores: STETHS 116-9 (20 overs); Manchester 121-2 (10.5 overs).
