Q, the son of producer Steven “Lenky” Marsden, has earned a gold certification in Canada for his single Take Me Where Your Heart Is.

The song achieved the milestone on May 15.

It was certified for sales exceeding 40,000 units by Music Canada, which administers the gold/platinum awards programme for best-selling recordings and albums in Canada.

The 24 year-old Q, whose real name is Q Steven Marsden, is also the son of musician Jacqueline Parkes, daughter of veteran bassist Lloyd Parkes. He is also the nephew of recording artiste and producer Craig “Leftside” Parkes.

Q was born in South Florida and is currently signed to Columbia Records.

In a post on his Instagram account on Monday, Q wrote “Toronto was the vibessssssss and Take Me Where Your Heart is, went gold in Canada. Thank you to the 6.”

Several individuals commented on the post, including his father, as well as veteran singer Anthony Red Roze, adding multiple fire emojis.

Take Me Where Your Heart Is is taken from Q’s 2020 EP titled The Shave Experiment — the 5-song project is inspired by music from the 1970s.

His previous release was the EP Forest Green, which was released in 2019 focusing heavily on R&B, soul and acoustic pop.

Q performed on The Verizon Amplified Stage for the BET Soul Train Awards held in November last year.

The elder Marsden, who began his foray in music as a musician, is best known for the Diwali rhythm, which spawned several hits including the Billboard charting No Letting Go by Wayne Wonder and Sean Paul’s Get Busy.
