Music’s on the menu
The vibes at Sora Japanese Cuisine & Urban Lounge were recently amplified with the musical stylings of DJ Lytes, who blazed a musical furnace churning out hit after hit.
Now located in Progressive Plaza on Barbican Road, Sora Japanese Cuisine & Urban Lounge has added an Urban Lounge to its offerings, where persons can kick back, relax, have a drink, and unwind to music.
According to Melissa Warner, a director of Sora Japanese Restaurant, the Urban Lounge is an added dimension to the restaurant’s offerings.
“You can come here, have a fantastic cocktail or whatever your favourite mix drink is from Tuesday to Saturday. We will have a different DJ playing the music on Fridays and Saturdays, but our customers can dine on the inside or on the outside. The lounge is more of a bar vibe. We’re a good option to unwind after a day at work, and enjoy good music,” Warner shared in an interview with the Jamaica Observer at the official reopening of the facility.
Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire took over the turntables after DJ Lytes and he kept a blistering pace with music from the electronic and Afrobeats genres. He also threw in one of the latest genres that’s taking over the musical landscape called Amapiano.
Sora Japanese Restaurant was originally located on Phoenix Avenue and, after its relocation to the Progressive Plaza, there was a fire just as the facility was about to reopen.
“We were originally at Phoenix Avenue and we decided to relocate here because it was a more food-centric plaza. We believe that being a part of that food traffic would kinda help us to increase volume and sales and be able to speak more conveniently to our consumers to be a viable and authentic Japanese cuisine alternative,” explained Warner.
She continued, “We actually had a fire when we were to initially open, but like a phoenix, we rose from the ashes. We believe that everything happens for a reason. It actually made us re-strategise and rethink our product to market. We really wanted to keep the food authentic Japanese, we wanted to bring an international flavour, which we think we’ve done in our décor. Food is such an experience, and it can lift your mood.”
Scores of guests came out to the reopening of Sora Japanese Restaurant and among those from the entertainment fraternity that were seen having a good time were ZJ Rush, singer Farenzzi and Guinness Sounds of Greatness former titleholder DJ Naz, and business executives Minna Israel and David Henriques.
