Accused men in June murder case shot and killed in separate incidents
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica- A June murder case was cleared up posthumously on Friday after the two men being sought for the killing were shot dead in separate incidents.
Nicholas ‘Evil’ Ruben, 30, and Toney ‘Gramps’ Gooden were said to be the triggermen behind the killing of Dominick Poyser, 20, who was shot dead at home by gunmen on June 16, 2023.
All three men resided at the same address on Dalling Street in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, the police said.
It was reported that around 2:00 am, Poyser was at home with other relatives when loud explosions were heard coming from his section of the building, followed by the sound of running footsteps.
The police were alerted, and upon arrival, they saw Poyser suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head.
He was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The scene was processed, and three spent casings were retrieved.
Following investigations, Gooden and Ruben were being sought in connection with the death.
Around 7:50 pm on July 8, 2023, Gooden was shot and killed by gunmen on Rose Street in Savanna-la-Mar. On August 2, Ruben was fatally shot by police during an alleged armed confrontation at Burnt Savannah in St Elizabeth.
