SO2

First and foremost…

Jamaican model Leonie Campbell’s distinctive beauty has propelled her images to Beijing, China. She was featured in the AW23 Dancehall collection, which was shot in Jamaica for the British shoe company Clarks. The company has recently held a launch event in China.

Images of the model can be seen on the brand’s e-commerce platform alongside her fellow campaign co-star JR Congoman, both hailing from The Rock, donning various pieces from the collection.

Regarding the release of the Dancehall collection, Clarks shared on their Instagram: “The Dancehall collection comprises six styles reimagined with bold colours and intricate details, all of which draw inspiration from Jamaica, a nation that has wholeheartedly embraced our iconic designs. Our Wallabee and Wallabee Boot silhouettes have been revitalised with striking shades of blue, green, and pink, imbuing each step with the vibrancy of Caribbean culture.”

Then…

Jamaican fashion designer and LMVH 2023 finalist Rachel Scott, who fronts the contemporary clothing brand Diotima, graced the cover of Perfect magazine’s issue five.

Each year, the LVMH Prize rewards young fashion designers, selected for their talent and outstanding creativity. The yearly LVMH Prize has easily transformed designers into household names and most importantly, given them the logistical tools to understand how to navigate the challenging parts of the industry.

This year, nine fashion talents, including Scott, from across the world came together to showcase completely different sides of their creativity, as Perfect‘s Susie Lau penned their stories, analysing the key ingredient that binds all into their tireless passion towards constructing style.

Meanwhile…

UK-based fast fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing (PLT) announced the groundbreaking collaboration between British-Jamaican supermodel Naomi Campbell, and young, emerging fashion designers Victor Anate from Nigeria and Rock-born Edvin Thompson based in New York City. The exclusive collection — boasting 42 pieces — marries the elegance of Campbell’s timeless fashion sense with the avant-garde vision of Anate and Thompson.

“This collaboration is an extension of my commitment to create and promote opportunities for young, emerging designers,” expressed the runway maven. “Within my collection, it was important to recognise and include some of the amazing talent that’s out there. I’m very intentional about using my platform to create opportunities for the next generation of creatives from around the world.”

According to PrettyLittleThing head of design, Chris Parnell, “This collaboration with Naomi Campbell is a monumental moment for PrettyLittleThing. We are not just launching a new collection, we are making history with the most significant collaboration we’ve ever undertaken. We can’t wait to see our customers wearing these designs.”

The collection features sequinned mini dresses, satin full-length dresses, versatile separates and eye-catching faux fur and patent leather outerwear for the upcoming party season. The collection will launch exclusively on PrettyLittleThing’s e-commerce site on Tuesday, September 5.
