‘Unfortunate’

American singer Capella Grey has sought to explain his non-performance at American singer Chris Brown’s recent Under the Influence concert.

The concert, which was held at the National Stadium on August 27, also featured performances by Ding Dong, Sean Kingston, Byron Messia, Teejay, and several others.

Capella Grey, who is of Jamaican parentage, visited the island for the first-time days leading up to the Chris Brown concert.

In a statement sent to the Jamaica Observer, Capella Grey said: “We hope this message finds you in good vibes, great health and high spirits. At this time, I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and enthusiasm, and love that was provided during my first visit to the island. Your presence means the world and we couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated and passionate fan base.

The statement continued with the artiste giving an apology: “We wanted to address the unfortunate situation that led to the unexpected cancellation of my performance at the National Stadium. We want you to know that we share in your disappointment and frustration. Sometimes life throws us unanticipated events that are out of our control. I know my absence on stage left a void and we’re genuinely sorry. Your anticipation and excitement was felt throughout, and we were just as eager to share that experience and moment with you. However, we firmly believe that challenges are opportunities in disguise.”

Capella Grey advised that he’s has been in the studio and thanked his fans.

“I am putting the final touches on my debut album, Vibe Responsibly. The album represents countless hours of passion, creativity, and collaboration that I will be able to share with you all. Expect Jamaica to be one of my first stops. I want to thank you for your understanding, patience, and continuous support during this time. Jamaica and all its glory has energised and fuelled my determination, and I promise to give my absolute best when we step back onto a stage in Jamaica. We’re genuinely humbled by your loyalty and honoured to have you as part of the Vibe Responsibly journey,” the statement read.

Capella Grey, who is from the Bronx, New York, is best known for the platinum-certified single Gyalis which dented several Billboard charts in 2021.
