Bayern Munich, Milan Derby highlight return after international break

Following the international break, top-flight football returns with a bang as four unbeaten teams put their records on the line.

Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen go head-to-head today, Friday, September 15. Then on Saturday, Inter and AC Milan will square off in the first Milan derby of the season, in an expected thrilling encounter.

Event # 1 – Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen – 1:30 pm

After a flying start to the German Bundesliga season, with unbeaten results, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen meet at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern’s face their first test of the season following three wins out of their opening three matches. They, Munich, have scored nine goals and have conceded the joint-lowest two goals (alongside Frankfurt). Despite not hitting top form as yet, Bayern will be confident of extending their winning form against the side that hopes to dethrone them as champions this season, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last eight Bundesliga matches, winning the other seven.

Bayer Leverkusen will be aiming to stay atop the standing after their clash with Bayern Munich.

In their last meeting with Bayern, Leverkusen came away with a 2-1 win. And after an excellent start to the new campaign, winning each of their four matches played so far, they will target another win here, but this will be a mountainous task for the league leaders having last won at Bayern in 2019. The big concern for Leverkusen against Bayern will be their defence — in 14 matches against Bayern Munich, Leverkusen haven’t managed a single clean sheet.

KEY STATS

Bayern Munich – have scored at least one goal in their last 33 home matches against Leverkusen.

Leverkusen – Leverkusen are seeking their eight-straight win in all competitions home and away.

Both sides – Bayern have only lost twice at home against Leverkusen in all competitions since 1989 and have lost only once at home in their last 25 Bundesliga games.

The betting Tip. Draw with both teams to score.

Event # 2 ITA – Inter Milan vs AC Milan – 11:00 am

City rivals, Inter Milan and AC Milan, have both started the new campaign in stunning form, each winning their opening three matches.

Inter Milan have won their games without conceding a single goal, a run that has propelled them atop the standing. This Milan derby has the making of a cracker this early in the season as both teams have scored eight goals with Inter being on top, having not conceded a goal as yet.

Inter will be high on confidence as they brushed aside Fiorentina 4-0 before the international break, and the last time they met their city rivals they beat them 3-0 in the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

AC Milan, like their city rivals Inter Milan, have started the new campaign impressively and will enter this derby in confident mood, following their 2-1 win over Roma before the international break, despite ending the game with 10-men.

They are second to Inter only on goal difference and will arrive at the San Siro bang in form having won six straight matches in all competitions. Victory over Inter will see AC Milan on top of the standings, but the last time both teams met in the league it ended in disappointment for AC Milan, they lost 1-0.

KEY STATS

Inter Milan – have won each of their last six competitive matches in all competitions, they defeated AC Milan four times last season, twice in the league and twice in the Champions League.

AC Milan – are unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 matches in Serie A but have conceded at least one goal against Inter Milan in their 10 most recent matches in Serie A.

Both sides – Inter Milan have won five of their last six matches against AC Milan in all competitions.

The betting Tip. Draw – Inter Milan win.
