MONTEGO BAY, St James – A man who was charged after lottery scamming paraphernalia was found in his possession will learn on October 11 if a court-ordered social enquiry report will have any impact on his sentencing.

St James resident Romario Williamson pleaded guilty to possession of identity information when he appeared in the parish’s Circuit Court on Thursday. He is being represented by attorney-at-law Jermaine Campbell.

According to the prosecution’s case file, on July 6, around 5:45 am, police conducted an operation and went to Williamson’s Flanker home armed with a search warrant.

A cellphone and a shoebox were discovered during the search. The shoebox contained 51 letter-sized papers with names, addresses, and phone numbers of individuals residing overseas.

They were shown to the accused, and when cautioned in relation to the shoebox, he reportedly said to the officer, “I took them from my dead cousin’s yard.”

A preliminary search of the phone was conducted, and several e-mail addresses were noted. A specific e-mail address associated with an Oshane Walters was discovered to contain a file with the names, addresses and phone numbers of individuals residing overseas, as well as four PDF files and several coupons.

When asked who Oshane Walters was, Williamson said he was a cousin who was currently living in Florida.

A conversation between the accused and his cousin was noted in which Williamson stated that he couldn’t find the items and that he should resend them.

When questioned about the conversation, Williamson told the cop that he knew the leads had been sent but he couldn’t find them.

He was arrested and charged.

After the allegations were outlined, High Court Justice Judith Pusey requested a social enquiry report and postponed sentencing until October 11.

Williamson’s bail was extended.
