St James rally to earn 1-1 draw with Irwin High
KINGSTON, Jamaica – St James High came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Irwin High in their rescheduled ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Zone A game played at Jarrett Park in St James on Monday.
The game was originally scheduled for last Tuesday but was pushed back due to the death of a teacher at St James High.
Kenroy Morant gave Irwin High the lead in the 10th minute before Ramoy Brown, who was a second-half substitute, came on in the 46th minute and equalised in the 50th.
Despite not taking all three points, Irwin High extended their record of not losing a first-round game since last season, while it was back-to-back draws for St James High who played out a 2-2 draw against Maldon High last week.
St James High had held Irwin High to a 0-0 draw in their second-round game last season after being edged 1-0 in the first round.
Monday’s result left Cornwall College as the leader with 10 points from four games, two more than Irwin High on eight, followed by Maldon with seven, St James High with five, Spot Valley High with three and Green Pond with 0.
