Four Nicaraguans charged following ganja seizure
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Four Nicaraguan nationals have been charged after 1,200 pounds of ganja were seized in Little Bay, Negril, Westmoreland last month.
Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, trafficking ganja, attempting to export ganja and conspiracy to export ganja are 31-year-old Kenroy Hibbert, 19-year-old Andy Garth, 34-year-old Owen Blackwood and 39-year-old Derrick Johnson, all fishermen of Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua.
Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 11:45 pm, the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard intercepted two fishing boats which led to the seizure of 1,200 pounds of Ganja.
On Tuesday, October 3, the men were charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorney.
They are scheduled to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court on Tuesday, October 10.
