St Ann man gunned down at his gate
ST ANN, Jamaica— A St Ann man was gunned down at his home in Beecher Street, Golden Grove on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Calvin Francis otherwise called ‘Fredrick’, a mining attendant.
Police report that Francis was shot and killed by gunmen while at his gate around 8:10 pm.
The lawmen say residents heard explosions and summoned them. When they arrived at the scene, Francis was found at the entrance to his yard with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not theorised a motive for the killing.
This is the fifth reported murder in the parish in less than two weeks. It follows three murders in two separate incidents in Seville Heights, and the rape and murder of eight-year-old Talia Thompson in Discovery Bay.

No motive has been ascertained for the incidents in Seville Heights, meanwhile police have charged 27-year-old Troy Ellis for the rape and murder of Talia.

According to statistics from the police, since the start of the year at least 63 murders have been committed in St Ann.
