Two killed, one hospitalised following shooting at candlelight vigil in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica— The St James police are investigating a fatal shooting during a candlelight vigil in Sam Sharpe Square on Tuesday night, which left two people dead and another hopitalised in serious condition.
The deceased— a man and a woman— have been identified as 35-year-old Jeffrey Woodstock, a fruit vendor from Greens, Norwood and Crawford Street, Mount Salem addresses; and 27-year-old car rental operator Kitiana Tomlinson of Providence Heights in the parish.
The police report that about 10:15pm, Woodstock abd Tomlinson were among a group of people attending a candlelight vigil when armed men opened fire on the group.
When the shooting subsided, Woodstock, Tomlinson and another man were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were taken to hospital where Woodstock and Tomlinson were pronounced dead. The injured man was admitted in serious condition.
