Two elderly men killed in St Andrew gun attack
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – Two elderly men were shot dead by gunmen during an attack on Parks Road in St Andrew Monday evening.
The dead men have been identified as 76-year-old Walton Pusey, a farmer from Parks Road, and his 62-year-old neighbour Sylvester Leslie, from Cushnie Road.
A third man, age 23, was shot and injured during the incident and had to seek medical attention at hospital, the police said. One of the dead men was not found until this morning.
It was reported that around 6:50 pm, Pusey and the now-injured man were among other patrons at a shop having drinks when a grey Honda Fit motor car stopped near the establishment.
Police said about four men exited the vehicle armed with handguns. They reportedly told Pusey he was who they came for and instructed the other patrons to put away their phones.
The men then opened gunfire on Pusey, hitting him multiple times all over his body. He died on the spot. The now-injured man received a gunshot wound to his left arm.
The men then returned to the vehicle and escaped toward the Bog Walk area of St Catherine. Residents assisted the 23-year-old to hospital, where he was treated.
Police found more than 30 spent casings upon processing the scene. The authorities took Pusey to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The body was later transported to the morgue.
The gunmen’s vehicle was intercepted by the police in the Bog Walk area, however, they escaped into nearby bushes.
Around 9:30 Tuesday morning, residents were walking on a field behind the shop where the murder occurred and saw Leslie’s body. They summoned the police, who discovered that he had multiple gunshot wounds over his body.
Police later discovered that Leslie was walking behind the shop and got hit while the gunmen were firing at Pusey.
