Access to Information Unit being upgraded – Morgan
Minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Robert Morgan says the Access to Information (ATI) Unit is “undertaking pivotal initiatives to elevate its services”.
To this end, the ATI website is being upgraded to, according to Morgan, “align it to modern accessibility standards”. He was speaking Tuesday during a ministerial statement in the House of Representatives.
“The ongoing upgrade of the ATI Unit website is a strategic move towards fortifying cybersecurity … and ensuring an enriched user experience,” Morgan said.
“The vision is to create a website through which all ATI requests can be submitted and tracked. This site is to be a precursor to the ATI Act, which is now before the Attorney General’s Department,” he added.
He shared that he has been tasked with the upgrading of the Act by Prime Minister Andrew Holness. Morgan said “this is a part of our commitment under the open-Government programme”.
The Act was last upgraded in 2010.
