Intrestntimesahead an easy winner in the slop
Following Intrestntimesahead‘s victory in the Miss Ruth Trophy on Sunday, December 17, trainer Jason DaCosta is hoping that his two-year-old bay can go on to bigger and better things.
With Phillip Parchment doing riding honours, Intrestntimesahead made one shake in sloppy underfoot conditions to beat rivals by 11 ¾ lengths in the native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight event over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
The Bold Conquest – My Friend Lucy offspring Intrestntimesahead, who was racing for the second time, completed the distance in 1:23.0 (24.3 x 50.0 x 1:25.4).
While the final time was not impressive, DaCosta still managed to find positives from the run by Intrestntimesahead.
“It was a nice performance by Intrestntimesahead here to win. I mean, he never ran against much, but he did what he had to do and it did it very easy as well,” DaCosta told the Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide.
The trainer added: “We hope he continues to improve and we can have a shot in the bigger races.”
Running with the blinkers off and visor on, Intrestntimesahead shot to the lead at the off and held the lead ahead of Lady Lauren (Raddesh Roman), Oil Machine (Tevin Foster), and Bank Craft (Odeen Edwards) down the backstretch.
Intrestntimesahead upped the tempo going into the half-mile (800m) and came off the final turn a city block in front of rivals. The bay colt went on to win ahead of Lady Lauren and Oil Machine.
