What’s Trending in Skincare For 2024?

What’s Trending in Skincare For 2024?

PDO threading, that’s what! This, according to Dr Sandra Swaby, board-certified cosmetic surgeon. “It’s been around for over two decades and is extremely popular in many Asian, European, North American and Latin-American states and countries. It is time that our Caribbean people are able to access simple procedures that the rest of the world has been thriving on,” she shared with
Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD).

But what is it? PDO (or Polydioxanone) threads are tiny medical-grade polydioxanone threads doctors insert into the skin using a thin, needle-like instrument. The same type of material that makes dissolvable sutures makes this thread.

They stimulate collagen production in the skin, resulting in firmer, more elastic skin.

What attracted her to this procedure, she added, was that it’s non-surgical and has many immediate and long-term effects. It is a viable option for those who do not wish to get a surgical lift… it’s effective in most… complications, in the right hands, are unlikely and of course cost is more accessible than that of a surgical facelift. (Although some will need a surgical facelift.)

Swaby’s training in PDO threading is by way of Professor Han-Gin Kwon, a pioneering South Korean in threadlifting. Plus, she’s participated in mini fellowships in Singapore, USA and Latin America.

The local market, she adds, has been extremely receptive! “There are those who may doubt the appropriateness of threading for them (as they should) as threadlifting is not for everyone. I think the fact that my clients look younger with no scar or significant downtime is why they come back.”

Swaby has also done threadlifting. “I have done threadlifting to my face, chin, neck, decolletage, breasts, abdomen, and thighs. I am also grateful to have done this for hundreds of males and females.

And the feedback? “Overall, the feedback has been phenomenal from most. Results sometimes exceed my own expectations and the joy that clients share with me that they have by the increased compliments and self-confidence,” she shared.

2024 has been declared the year to take care of self… Put self first. And Dr Swaby is booked and ready! “Absolutely! Look out for it! I will be launching a massive ‘disruptor’ campaign in the first half of this year. Harmony Health is humbled by the massive mindset elevation of our staff through our in-house self-love programme. We launched Zen Oasis Wellness Spa on Tuesday, January 2, where it’s all about taking a breath and showing yourself gentle kindness, and for our clients we have crafted our two-week in-house, self-love, self-care post-lipobodysculpting experience.
