Racing to face Reno in Championships.
LLANDILO, Westmoreland – Racing United will put their perfect win record on the line on Wednesday when they take on third-placed Reno FC in one of seven Jamaica Football Federation Championships games set to be played.
Racing United and Tru-Juice FC, who will be away to Falmouth United, have won their first three games of the competition and lead Reno FC and Browns Town by three points.
In their only meeting last season, Racing United beat Reno 4-2 and after their blistering start to the competition, will be expected to continue their winning run.
Racing United have scored five goals in each of their last two games and face a Reno FC team that lost their only home game so far but rebounded to beat Hopewell United on Saturday.
Javaughn Cole has scored in all three Racing United games played so far and is tied for the league lead with four goals with Tamar Francis of Baptist Alliance.
Tru-Juice FC will also be gunning for win number four and third straight over Falmouth United, who they beat 2-1 in the first season of the competition and 4-1 last season.
Sivon Thompson, Colicke Richards and Dayshani Russell have combined for seven of Tru-Juice FC’s 10 goals scored so far and will be on the hunt for goals against Falmouth United who have conceded six goals in their three games played.
Falmouth United are coming off their opening win, coming from behind late to beat Portlanders FC and will hope to build on this against Tru-Juice.
Despite scoring just two goals in three games, Browns Town are in the top four and could win again today when they host Portlanders FC who are coming off back-to-back losses where they have conceded five goals.
Browns Town won back-to-back 1-0 games, the same margin they won against Portlanders FC last season and will hope their defence will be able to keep them in the top four with a win today.
Baptist Alliance and Petersfield FC, who will meet at Heartease Community Centre, are both on four points each and will hope to come away with full points in the first meeting between the teams.
Chapleton Maroons are also on four points and will host Hopewell United at Turner Field, meeting for the first time since the 2021-22 season when Chapleton won, on their way to the final.
Hopewell are on three points from just one win but both losses were by narrow one-goal margins. They could win in Clarendon, if they take their chances.
Former winners Faulkland FC have lost back-to-back games since their narrow win over Hopewell United in the first round and they will hope to get the better of St Bess United who are also on three points with the teams separated in the tables on goal difference.
Meadforest FC are rock bottom on just a point and will host Gray’s Inn at Constant Spring and will hope home-field advantage will get them their first victory of the season.
