Lilliput Rovers, Heights FC win in Sandals Resorts Major League
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Lilliput Rovers moved into second place in Zone B of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League after hammering Montego Bay Boys Club 5-1 in their return round game played at Spot Valley High on Friday.
Lilliput Rovers who had won the first game between the teams 3-0, joined Cambridge United on nine points but with a better goal-difference, both behind leaders Reggae Youths FC.
In another game played on Friday, Heights FC snapped a three- game winless run to edge Wadada United FC 1-0 at the Mt Salem Community Centre as both teams ended the game with 10 men.
At Spot Valley High, four different Lilliput Rovers players plus an own goal from Boys Club, accounted for the winners’ goals.
Eleven different players have scored for Lilliput Rovers this season.
An own goal in the second minute from Alex Ferguson gave Lilliput Rovers the lead while Kimario Murdock equalised for Boys Club in the 41st minute.
Jazeel Bernard restored Lilliput Rovers’ lead when he scored just before half time, in the 44 th minute.
Daveroy Bailey made the scores 3-1 when he scored in the 73rd minute, Nigel Dixon added a fourth in the 82nd minute before Roshane Williams scored from the penalty spot in the 88 th minute to complete the scoring.
At the Mt Salem Community Centre, Michael Thompson’s 16th minute penalty conversion was the difference between the teams as Wadada United lost a sixth straight game.
Navaldo Christie of Wadada United and Michael Rowe of Heights FC were both shown the red card in the 90th minute.
