Tuesday Style Vows
February 27, 2024

adidas x Bob Marley

Reggae legend Bob Marley brought reggae and Rastafari to the world. He was also one of the musical style icons of the 70s.

His track suit era was well-documented. Just Google ‘Bob Marley + adidas’ and you’ll see numerous photos of Marley wearing sneakers and tracksuits emblazoned with the label’s signature three stripes.

In celebration of what would have been his 79th birthday on February 6 and in conjunction with the recent theatrical release of the
Bob Marley: One Love biopic, adidas paid homage to the Jamming singer in a new ‘Originals Football’ Collection.

The drop includes a series of retro track suits and tees presented in the trio of black, green, and gold, the colours of Jamaica’s national flag.

From adidas:

A true Originals Classics icon, reinvented. The Jamaica Beckenbauer Track Top recreates soccer outfits by bringing a modern silhouette, fresh colours, and seasonal fabrics to the game.

Inspired by the archives but designed in a contemporary style, this trend-setter track top carries the Jamaica print crest close to the heart. It is crafted with front pockets to keep your essentials at your fingertips and ribbed cuffs that help you stay warm. The full zip with a stand-up collar nods to vintage soccer uniforms, while the slim fit adds an elegant touch.

There’s also a T-shirt. Yellow assumes a more prominent position, featuring a diagonal graphic alongside green and black elements for the win. The concluding T-shirt boasts a black backdrop with three yellow stripes running across the shoulders, as well as a green collar and cuffs.

Rounding out the vibrant collection is a windbreaker, infused with inspiration from Caribbean graphic styles and featuring the Jamaican flag colours. The pieces reflect the style of the Reggae Boyz and Reggae Girlz national football teams
