Bailey Cadamarteri to choose between Jamaica and England
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will have competition for the services of 18-year-old striker Bailey Cadamarteri, after the Sheffield Wednesday player was also invited to join the England Under -19 set-up for games in the March international break.
Twenty-four hours after Cadamarteri was announced as part of the Reggae Boyz squad for the Concacaf Nations League semi-finals, he also got invited to the England Under -19 team that is set to play against Morocco and the USA.
Jamaica is set to play the USA in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Nations League on Thursday, March 21 and will have another game on Sunday, March 24 (the finals) if they win on Thursday or the third place-playoff, both at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The player, who received praises from Reggae Boyz head coach Hemier Hallgrimsson during a press conference on Thursday, has appeared in 21 games for Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championships, the second tier of English and has scored four times.
Even if he decides against accepting the Jamaican call up now, as per FIFA eligibility rules, he can still play for the Jamaican team later on as players who have only represented countries at the junior age group level or a maximum three times at the senior level in competitive football, can switch allegiances.
