JAAA names 79-member team for Carifta Games

KINGSTON, Jamaica- Edwin Allen High’s Theianna Lee Terrelonge and former St Elizabeth Technical runner Javorne Dunkley were named in a 79-member team released by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) to represent the island at the 51st Carifta Games to be held at the Kirani James Stadium in Grenada, March 30-April 1 .

Two more athletes will be added to the final team, the top eligible Jamaican finishers in the multi-events- the women’s Heptathlon and men’s Decathlon that will be held at the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’  Champs, March 19-23, the release from the JAAA said.

The team was selected from the Carifta Trials that was held two weeks ago and Jamaica will be defending their title and seeking a 38th straight win in the three-day championships.

Last year at the 50th staging held at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium in the Bahamas, Jamaica topped the medals tables with a total of 78 medals- 40 gold, 22 silver and 16 bronze.
