Trishana’s top picks — KC athletes to watch
BEING a fan of the 400m hurdles, I will lead off my picks with this event.
1. Antonio Forbes – Class One – 400m hurdles
One of the fastest in the field going into Champs and has dipped below 51 seconds. He has the speed and he has also managed the event well. If he clears all 10 obstacles, he will be on the podium.
2. Shamar Jennings – Class One – 400m hurdles
He too has run fast over the hurdles and should add to the medal haul in this event.
3. Nyron Wade – Class Two – Sprinter
Wade has gotten better throughout the season, not only with his times but also in race delivery. And yes, a win for him is possible once he advances to the final.
4. Zachary Merchant – Class Two – Triple Jump
With their jumpers programme being top level, Merchant is eager to add his name to the list. If he hits the board well and delivers his phases like he has done this season he will score big points.
5. The 4x400m relay team will want that gold-medal performance to highlight their three-peat and 35th overall, if things go as planned.
