Vyzadon changes pace with Sha La La

Known for gritty songs such as Dem Will Kill You, Vyzadon takes a change in pace for Sha La La, his latest single, which is produced by Raggedy Production.

“It wasn’t a matter of dancehall need a love song why I wrote Sha La La, I wrote it because that’s how i felt in the moment. Sometimes selling onions is what makes the difference. It’s good to go against the grain and that’s exactly what I did with Sha La La.”

The artiste went on to speak about his process.

“I write music based on real events in my life. And while I don’t like to do what everybody else is doing, I also understand as an artiste who is selling a product, which is music, that it’s a supply and demand industry. So, if tomato is in demand, it would not be wise to sell onions,” Vyzadon reasoned.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer the deejay spoke about some artiste being typecast by the demand.

“Dancehall lacks variety and creativity, [but still] sensuous songs are still being made. It’s just that the consumers are looking for what is dominating the space and it’s easy to get caught up in the hype. Whatever it is you are interested in and looking for is there, you just have to look in the right place,” he said.

The Trench Town-born artiste had a fruitful 2023, scoring with Dem Will Kill You (done with singer Wai Fuzion), a tale about urban life, produced by Ireland Records.

He closed the year with Top Gyal for Kai Kai Recordz.

Vyzadon — real name Prince Shand — began recording music seven years ago.

His sole EP, Champion, was released in 2022.
