#Champs2024: STGC’s Bristol heads into Class 1 shot put final on top
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Deandre Bristol of St George’s College (STGC) was the lone athlete to throw over 18.00m to qualify for Saturday’s final of the Class 1 boys’ shot put at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Bristol registered a mark of 18.49m in his second-round attempt. The automatic qualifying standard for the event is 17.00m.
Looking to challenge Bristol are St Catherine High’s Rajay Hemmings (17.57) and Jamaica College’s Josh-Ty Brown (17.12).
Also booking their spots to the gold medal event are Kingston College’s Despiro Wray (16.88); Devontae Edwards of Munro College (16.55); Cornwall College’s Mar-Lando Farquharson (16.23); Calabar’s Matthew Blake (16.08) and Delano Lawrence (14.44); Clarendon College’s Cleon Sewell (15.51); Chad Hendricks of Munro College (15.08); JC’s Shaiquan Dunn (14.30) and Dylan Logan of Edwin Allen High (14.04).
The final of the Class 1 boys’ shot put will take place on Saturday at 5:15 pm.
