#Champs2024: Redemption for Hydel’s Myers in Class 1 girls’ 100mh
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hydel High’s Shania Myers upgraded her eighth-place finish from last year to gold in the Class 1 girls’ 100m hurdles at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships on Saturday.
Myers clocked a personal best of 13.14 in the process.
Holmwood Technical’s Kiara Meikle ran 13.41 for second while St Catherine High’s Asharria Ulett finished third in 13.59.
Bryana Davidson of St Jago stormed to gold in the Class 2 100mh in a time of 13.18. Tiana Marshall of Wolmer’s Girls’ ran a cross the line in 13.32 for second. Hydel High’s Olivia St John finished third in 13.69.
Meanwhile, Akeelah Bell of Wolmer’s Girls’ topped the field in the Class 3 80mh in 11.27. Hydel’s Annieka Carnegie won silver in 11.30. St Jago’s Adora Campbell (11.31) copped the bronze medal to go with her 100m silver.
Edwin Allen’s Tashana Godfrey was crowned the Class 4 girls’ 70mh champion in 10.45. She crossed the line ahead of Holmwood Technical’s Devonnie Francis (10.69) and Excelsior’s Nicqora Nelson (10.84).
