EOJ offices to open Saturday for voter registration
ELECTORAL Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will open all constituency offices on Saturday, March 30 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm to allow eligible persons convenience in registering to vote.
The EOJ, in a release Wednesday, said it has extended the hours in an effort to facilitate individuals who may not have been able to visit its offices during the regular opening hours. Individuals who wish to be added to the voters’ list may apply at the nearest EOJ constituency office.
Director of Elections Glasspole Brown has appealed to individuals to apply before the deadline. “We encourage all individuals who have not yet registered to vote to take advantage of this opportunity. Those who register after the March 30 deadline will miss inclusion in the May 31 voters’ list and will have to wait to be added to the November 30 list,” he said.
Prospective electors are advised to wear bright or dark-coloured clothing to facilitate the process of taking their photograph.
Meanwhile, people already on the voters’ list are asked not to reapply but should instead request a renewal if their voter ID card is expired.
